Volunteer & Intern Positions

Current Opportunities: 

PLEASE NOTE: We are a very small staff.  A response to your email may take 10 to 14 days. Current Volunteer openings are for adults 18 and older. Any incomplete email will not be considered.

 

General Volunteers:

Yellow Star Volunteers:

Yellow Star volunteers must be 18 years or older, comfortable speaking in front of groups of people, capable of working independantly, and be willing to learn about sea turtles. These volunteers must also learn and agree with STR’s mission. These volunteers will assist us in the public area of our facility.

Green Star Volunteer:

These Volunteers will help us at summer Festivals and events. Tasks may vary but will include talking to the public and small tasks related to the event.

Interns:  
(For summer internships, please submit your cover letter and resume between February and May.  If chosen, you will receive a call the first or second week of April.)

Internships are unpaid and Interns are responsible for their own room, board and transportation.  Internships will run from the middle of May until the middle of August.  Interns will be assisting the staff with daily operations at the hospital including public speaking, retail, cleaning and other duties.  You must be a recent college graduate or in college and have at least four full days a week available to work at the hospital.  You must be willing to work a majority of weekends.   You must complete a sea turtle project during the internship.  (Please note that STR is committed to rehabilitation, and there is limited to no interaction with the turtles to ensure their release back to the wild. 65% of tasks will be in our public area.)  All applicants must submit a resume and cover letter to volunteer@seaturtlerecovery.org.  You must send both documents; incomplete submissions will not be considered.  Please allow at least 14 days for us to respond.
