2020 Sea Turtle Race

Posted by admin on January 31, 2020

Dear Sea Turtle Racers,

For everyone’s safety we have rescheduled our Sea Turtle Race for Saturday, October 24th 2020. STR’s second annual Sea Turtle Race will be at the same location around the Orange Reservoir. Given the unusual circumstances we are all facing, we have developed three options for everyone who has already registered. If you are available October 24th, please choose to have your registration automatically transferred to the new date. If you are not available to join us in October, please consider turning your registration into a donation to continue supporting our mission to save sick sea turtles. Additionally we have made arrangements to refund registrations despite initial registration settings.

We are hoping to have some wonderful Fall weather for another successful event to help raise crucial funding for our busy winter season. Currently, NOAA officials are expecting another large cold stunning event along the Northeast that may bring record setting numbers of sick sea turtles to our shores. Each sick sea turtle that Sea Turtle Recovery admits will cost approximately $1200 - $1500 to rehabilitate and return to the ocean.

The vast majority of STR’s patients are juveniles. This means that they quite literally will determine the future of their species! It is critical to save these threatened and endangered turtles in order to ensure a future breeding population and maintain a healthy ocean ecosystem.

Please join us October 24th for our Second Annual Sea Turtle Race to help Sea Turtle Recovery do our part in protecting sea turtles for the future!
